I’ve added a few more available slots on my lesson calendar, but they are not completely fixed since I sometimes have concerts or rehearsals in the evenings, or I need to reserve time for my own practice. It would be wonderful if someone could take mornings hours slot on a regular weekly basis.Semi-professionals or serious amateurs are very welcome. First of all, I’m glad you found my information here. However, I must say that I’m often disappointed to see many unqualified amateurs presenting themselves as professional pianists or teachers. Because private teaching doesn’t require certification, anyone can advertise themselves as a “piano teacher.” For beginners, it can be difficult to tell the difference — and that can be risky for motivated students. I’ve had several students come to me after taking lessons from such “fake teachers,” and unfortunately, I often had to rebuild their technique from the very beginning. I can relate to this personally. I also struggled for years because my first piano teacher was not able to guide me properly. Only several years later, I was lucky enough to study with teachers who had real experience as concert pianists. Since then, I’ve spent more than ten years retraining myself, rebuilding my technique, and undoing bad habits. It took an enormous amount of effort, but it was worth it. Now I truly understand what went wrong, and you can see some of the results in my videos here. Through this process, I became very aware of how to use my body efficiently and naturally at the piano, and I’ve gained much more flexibility and control. I would be happy to share what I have learned with you.

Als kind startte ik al vroeg met piano spelen. Toen ik 5 jaar oud was zei de muziekdocent van mijn school tegen mijn ouders dat ik een duidelijk talent voor muziek had. Ze hebben toen een piano aangeschaft en verder had ik geen keus meer! Daarna volgden 7 jaar basisschool voor muziek en 4 jaar muziekcollege. Dit waren mijn leukste studiejaren waarin ik mij goed heb kunnen ontwikkelen in verschillende disciplines. Ik deed in deze tijd ook mee aan 2 landelijke concoursen. Vervolgens volgde ik 5 jaar conservatorium als uitvoerende en docerend musicus. Dit was voor mij tevens een tijd van emotionele en artistieke ontwikkeling. Ik leerde dat het altijd de moeite loont om door te zetten en ik kijk hier nog steeds op terug als een waardevolle periode in mijn leven. Later in Nederland (2001-2003) heb ik ook 3 jaar orgel studie gedaan en hier een hbo diploma in behaald.

Hoi, ik ben Alex Rijckaert. Sinds mijn afstuderen aan de Rockacademie in 2017 geef ik pianoles aan mensen van alle leeftijden en met verschillende niveaus. Mijn focus als uitvoerend musicus ligt op pop en jazz, maar als docent begeleid ik graag liefhebbers van allerlei muziekstijlen. In mijn lessen staan jouw persoonlijke en creatieve ontwikkeling centraal, volledig afgestemd op je interesses en wensen. Ik begon zelf met keyboard- en pianolessen toen ik 9 jaar oud was. Mijn groeiende interesse in muziek bracht me ertoe mijn ontwikkeling voort te zetten aan de Rockacademie in Tilburg. Daar verdiepte ik me in popmuziek en rondde ik een minor af in jazz en klassieke piano. Inmiddels kijk ik terug op veel bijzondere projecten en optredens. Zo speelde ik in musicals zoals Lazarus en Forever 27, trad ik op in radioshows zoals 3FM en Radio 2, verscheen ik in tv-programma’s waaronder De Wereld Draait Door, en stond ik op festivals als Bospop, Best Kept Secret en Zwarte Cross. Als sessiemuzikant heb ik met veel inspirerende artiesten mogen samenwerken, waaronder Nona, Oliver Pesch, Thomas Berge en Penny Roox. Daarnaast besteed ik mijn vrije tijd aan mijn eigen muzikale projecten.

Hello there! My name is Ana and I am a piano player from Buenos Aires, Argentina. After many years of private piano lessons, music schools and graduating and getting a diploma on piano performing from Escuela de Música Contemporánea (EMC) part of the Berklee International Network I decided to have the experience of studying abroad. This is how I ended up studying, and getting a bachelor, at the Rotterdam’s Conservatory CODARTS (University of the Arts) as a latin piano performer. As a colourful side note, I have also taken a couple years of singing and drums/percussion. I have played piano since I was 6 years old (so for 20 + years!) and, as I mentioned before, I have been through many types of learning, that is how I learned first hand that not every student learns the same and not every method of teaching works for everyone. I believe the classes should be first and foremost motivating to the student. For this the content has to be something that you as a student can relate to, and that it is useful for you! I have worked as a piano teacher for already ten years, taught at a kid’s orchestra, gave baby music lessons, accompany some choirs, perform live with my own projects and other’s projects, performed at circus’s shows… When I perform with my own projects I mainly play Latin American music and Latin Jazz. What I love the most about performing music is to connect different cultures, and hopefully this will make different people connect to each other. In other projects, and as a teacher, I have also played Jazz, funk, pop, some classical… a little of everything!.

I live in Blijdorp, Rotterdam, in a house full of music, with my violinist sister. I am also familiar with teaching piano, especially with children, since I used to teach a couple of years ago in Spain. I have recently taken a pedagogy course about piano teaching in children from 5 years old to 18 years old, and my interest in teaching children has increased. Above all, I believe that playing the piano should be always a joyfull and pleasant experience.

I started my lessons with Shintaro only a month ago, but I am already seeing immense progress thanks to his dedication, patience, and passion. Ágnes is niet alleen een heel goede (klassiek) pianist die inspirerend kan voorspelen, maar ook een echte docent die weet hoe je een nieuwe techniek leert. Mij leert ze succesvol om ontspannen en dus muzikaal te spelen. Om niet bang te zijn voor fouten maar om met plezier muziek te maken. Daar moet je wel voor werken natuurlijk. Maar Ágnes is een lieve vrouw voor wie je graag wilt werken.

Ik ben bij Andreas met lessen begonnen met het idee om Schubert 'goed' te leren spelen. Andreas' eerste observatie was dat het al aardig klonk, gegeven de gebrekkige techniek. Dat laatste was precies waar ik aan wilde werken. Het verbeteren van de techniek gaat met eenvoudige oefeningen en composities, waarbij veel aandacht is voor het luisteren. Kleine passages spelen en letten op de details. Samenspel van de vingers en handen, manier van aanslaan van een noot, nootlengte, ritme, accenten, etc. etc. Pas met goed luisteren, komt goed spelen. In de tussentijd is er ook ruimte voor uitleg over muziekgeschiedenis, -theorie en anecdotes. Voor mij waren de lessen inspirerend (en gezellig), terwijl in de tussentijd de techniek met sprongen vooruit is gegaan. Helaas komt nu na ruim een jaar door verhuizing alweer een einde aan de lessen. Ik hoop in Noord-Nederland weer zo'n goede pianodocent te vinden!

She makes me repeat a part until I can play it correctly and smoothly even if I repeat it 50 times.
