Marcello Saracino

Hello, this is Marcello! I am a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, where I obtained bachelor's and master's degrees in Jazz Drums.

I am a music lover interested in many genres but I first started playing rock and, as my passion deepened, my favourite styles expanded. This eventually led me to pursue a career in music and - more specifically - in jazz. I also write songs - and lyrics - and play some guitar and piano. I like to share my approach and help others transform their ideas into music.

What I would like to convey to my students is an openness for different traditions and approaches in music. In my teaching the primary goal is to follow the student's instincts. Reading is not mandatory - music comes first and foremost through one's ears - but I can teach that as well.Your goals set the path that we will undergo: if playing along with songs is what moves you, great! If you want to go deeper into one style, that is possible! If you want to focus on expanding your skills, I can give you the tools to get there!

I have been playing drums for a long time now and I have been fortunate enough to share this passion with many musicians and audiences along the way. (Plus I guess it doesn't hurt to mention that I obtained my master's degree in Jazz drums from the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague in 2024!)

And now I would love to share my passion with students as well!
My lessons focus on you learning to play the music you love. Regardless of level, you decide which approach to take: do you want to know how to hold your sticks and keep a proper posture? Do you want to improve your time feel? Or do you want be able to learn what your idols play on your favourite song?
We will work on whatever you want to improve in the most musical way possible! You set your own goals and I will help you get there.

Because of the structure of these lessons, the student's minimum age should not be lower than ten. It would also be preferrable for me to teach at the student's location.

Since I started playing I was surrounded by musicians who were eager to write original material. This urge eventually transferred to me and became part of my musical identity. The people with whom I wrote my first songs were my early teachers but later I actually studied composition as a part of my master's degree course.

Our lessons will be shaped around your aims as a songwriter. We will discuss influences, style, lyrics and orchestration. During our lessons we will try out your musical ideas and I will help you by playing guitar, keyboard or drums to have a better sense of arrangement.
