Hi, I'm Laura, born in Bogotá and living in The Netherlands since 2016.
Ik spreek een beetje Nederlands en blijf werken aan het verbeteren van mijn niveau, ik geef voornamelijk les in Engels en Spaans.
The violin came to me when I was 8 years old and now I have been teaching it for 16 years and I have loved, and more importantly, had fun during each step of the way.
I finished my bachelor in Colombia, and after a few years of working as teacher and orchestra coach, I came to Utrecht Conservatorium where I finished a master in violin performance and started to know the world of the Alexander Technique, of which I'm now a certified teacher.
Now I work from my studio in the center of The Hague, having fun, exploring, helping and allowing the music of each student to shine through them.
I love playing and teaching violin and I work on exploring new ways of doing both things. From the first lessons I encourage the student to trust in their ability to make beautiful sound and music, regardless of the level or experience with the instrument, we can have fun by discovering how to do what we do.
Together, I work with the students in the development of technique tools that suit their needs and not the other way around, bringing forward the importance of the body-mind relation in the learning of any new activity or reeducation of past habits that hinder your performance. I do so through the principles of the Alexander Technique: pause - notice - choice.
Whether you are interested in building you classical music repertoire or want to play your favorite song, I'm here to be a guide or making arrangements of your favorite tunes.
