Hi everyone!! My name is Pete Galea, I've been playing music for over 20 years, and I'd love to offer my tuition services to you! My main instrument is the drums, but as you can see here on my profile my experience ranges quite a bit. Besides having graduated with First Class Honours in BMus(Hons) Professional Music Performance from ACM in the UK back in 2017, I've also studied with the likes of Claus Hessler, Dom Famularo, Massimo de Majo, Mark Guiliana, Jojo Mayer, Simon Phillips, Pete Lockett etc. Teaching has been a huge passion of mine for over 10 years now, and I've taught students of all ages, from beginners just getting started to seasoned players looking to take their drumming to the next level! I currently play with an artist called Alexandra Alden, and we are soon releasing a new album! Alongside this I compose my own music within the Jazz-Fusion genre, and have also played as a session drummer on many gigs and recordings. My approach to teaching drums is catered entirely towards the student. With over 10 years of teaching experience working with all ages and skill levels, I have gained valuable experience in working with a students goals/needs to create the ideal learning path for them. Whether this includes learning songs, working on technique, preparing for music exams/auditions, or getting out of a rut, I have the experience and tools to help you out!
Over the past 15 years I've been in all sorts of bands and ensembles including: rock, indie-rock, pop, RnB, electronica, jazz fusion, folk/singer-songwriter, and have performed extensively as well as recorded in various studios. If you and your band would like to tighten things up, work on your rhythmic skills, inprovisation and interplay, or general performance skills, let's work on it!
Have you always dreamed about sitting on a wooden box and beating on it to your heart's content? Would you like to be able to play the percussion instrument most reached for when playing small venues and acoustic concerts? Look no further! I have played cajon along with other auxiliary percussion for some years now, and offer it as an alternative option to playing on a full drum set.
After going many years ignoring music theory, my formal education and training has helped me to understand the value in being able to communicate musical ideas through writing them down. This has been extremely valuable not just when teaching or learning music, but also when composing and needing to communicate musical ideas efficiently to my fellow bandmates. I also have worked for the past 2 years creating notation and musical engraving for online educational resources as well as educational publications. I can help you understand theory to a very functional level, whether that be by hand or using software such as Sibelius!
