I'm Nicolás Bernáldez, a 20 year old Spanish pianist that is currently studying at CvA (Conservatorium van Amsterdam). I've been living in Amsterdam for 2 years as well as teaching students since then (piano and theory lessons).
I started playing the piano when I was 9 years old in a small music school back in Madrid. A couple of years later, I entered the conservatory in Madrid and studied there until I was 18. During those years I improved a lot as a pianist and as a musician which, in the end, inspired me to give higher quality lessons and help my students as much as possible. In 2023, I auditioned at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam for the Bachelor Degree in Music and, from there on, my focus has been to find new students (especially complete beginners) and guide them through this wonderful process of learning how to play the piano.
My goal as a teacher is to make my students enjoy playing the piano and show them how to make music that they like to hear. Of course, this is not possible without discipline and hard work; because you won't feel like practicing every day. However, it's very important to teach the students how to make each study session fun, and especially, build up their motivation to perform for others, which can be scary but also very rewarding!
My piano lessons are focused on teaching students how to become better musicians while having fun. Piano can be seen as a very hard instrument to play, but with the right advice anyone will see improvements in just a few months (even if you are a beginner!). So, if you're interested in learning piano in an interactive, entertaining and dynamic way... See you at the piano!
Music theory is always neglected by students because it's not taught the right way. I always show my students the direct relationship between playing an instrument and knowing theory, without focusing on the useless rules that we often learn at conservatories. Of course, it's important to know the rules, but I find it more interesting to learn things that you can directly apply in your playing and be able to hear the results right away. If this sounds good to you, see you at the lesson!
