Together we will explore uncover some of the wonders of music and discover what makes your favourite music so special!

About me:

Originally from Germany, I moved to the Netherlands to study at the music Conservatory of Rotterdam.

I have been playing Saxophone since I was little. During my early teenage years I got obsessed with playing music till I eventually decided to take private lessons.

After being accepted to a specialised music boarding-school (where I gaind a solid fundament in music theory, ear-training) and graduating I decided to move to the USA. The birth country of Jazz. There I lived together with kids with special needs, being responsible for their general care, also involving myself in speech and music therapy but still performing in the local music scene and in Philadelphia.

Through this year I gained a lot of practical experience teaching but also learned a lot about the value of patience and empathy.

Also people with special needs - young and old - are more then welcome to messege me for lessons!

Now I have almost lived in the Netherlands for 3 years, teaching but also intensely researching and studying music myself.

I have played with amazing musicians like Dennis van Arsen, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Dystinct. Had the opportunity to play on many big stages like Ahoy or the Brabanthallen. Performed with orchestras like the Rotterdam Sinfonia or Redbull Symphonic. Toured the US and Europe and music has never been as exciting to me as it is right now and it only gets more and more fascinating.

Languages:

I mainly teach in English or German. (both on a certified C2 level) 

Maar ik ben nog volop Nederlands aan het leren, dus alle geduld en tips zijn van harte welkom. ;)

My Teaching style:

Together we will create a personalised routine that will help you get closer to your personal goals.

We will explore what music YOU like and why It sounds so great.

I will teach you how to improve your technique through specialised exercises that help you build a strong foundation in your playing (Rhythm, Sound, Harmonic and Melodic knowledge).

We will also go through the basics of music theory and if you’re interested we will go even deeper.

I also put a big emphasis on mental health and the state of mind while playing to keep the anxiety low and the excitement high. Therefore I’ll share certain performance techniques that helped me deal with my own anxiety.

In our lessons, we’ll focus on:

• Saxophone technique (sound, tone, posture, breathing)

• Rhythmic, Melodic and Harmonic understanding

• Reading Sheetmusic

• Everything else that makes you a confident, capable Saxophonist

We can keep it fun and simple – or, if you're curious, dive into more advanced topics like scales, harmonies, and musical theory. (Yes, we can nerd out on octatonics, altered extentions, pentatonic shifting or hamonic superimposition and all the good stuff too, if that’s your thing!) ;)
