I was born within two worlds, the East and the West; the folklore music of central Greece and the classical one. A major factor in the formation of my musicality comes from the tight relation of my family with Greek traditional music. However, music of any kind was always welcome at my home. Inspired by my father who is also a singer, I got involved in choir singing and started piano lessons. Opting for singing was a choice that gave me the freedom to express my mind.

I consider myself a people’s person. When teaching I have the need to welcome the student into a safe environment of acceptance where music can happen. In order for the student to let go of personal timidness, mutual trust comes with time yet is necessary. I prioritise my students’ needs; teach them the technical aspects they should know so as to develop a healthy instrument but also coach them so that they develop their taste in music.

Because I have been singing various styles through my career, I believe I am quite a chameleon of styles (Latin, Brazilian, Jazz, Pop, Greek). In my lessons I find  helpful to use some mini percussion so that the singer can establish an internal metronome. I am very supportive with each individuals’ needs and goals, that is why I always make a personal profile of my students and their progress and also ask them to design their personal dream board. All in all, I always use a combo of methods and adapt at the personal needs of the student.

Singing for me is always a vocal discovery and this is what I would like to help my students achieve. The essential idea is to develop a healthy instrument with which  you can express through the good and bad days. I have been studying with different teachers around the Netherlands (Codarts alumni) and Greece and during this time I have realised that learning can happen anywhere and anytime.

Ik beschouw mezelf als een mensenmens. Bij het lesgeven heb ik de behoefte om de student welkom te heten in een veilige omgeving van acceptatie waar muziek kan gebeuren. Om ervoor te zorgen dat de student zijn persoonlijke verlegenheid loslaat, komt wederzijds vertrouwen met de tijd maar is het noodzakelijk. Ik geef prioriteit aan de behoeften van mijn studenten; leer ze de technische aspecten die ze moeten kennen om een ​​gezond instrument te ontwikkelen, maar coach ze ook zodat ze hun muzieksmaak ontwikkelen.

Omdat ik tijdens mijn carrière verschillende stijlen heb gezongen, geloof ik dat ik een behoorlijke kameleon van stijlen ben (Latijn, Braziliaans, Jazz, Pop, Grieks). In mijn lessen vind ik het handig om wat mini-percussie te gebruiken, zodat de zanger een interne metronoom kan instellen. Al met al gebruik ik altijd een combinatie van methoden en pas ik me aan aan de persoonlijke behoeften van de student.

Zingen is voor mij altijd een vocale ontdekking en dit is wat ik mijn studenten wil helpen bereiken. Het essentiële idee is om een ​​gezond instrument te ontwikkelen waarmee je je door de goede en slechte dagen kunt uitdrukken. Ik heb gestudeerd met verschillende docenten in heel Nederland (Codarts alumni) en Griekenland en gedurende deze tijd heb ik me gerealiseerd dat leren overal en altijd kan gebeuren.
