My name is Minas and I’m a musician, composer, producer & teacher from Greece. Music was always part of my life. I started playing guitar when I was 8 and then studied at the Music High School of my home town, Thessaloniki. There I studied guitar, piano, double bass and music theory/harmony. After high school, I studied bass under scholarship at Philippos Nakas conservatory and classical double bass at the State Conservatory of Thessaloniki. I’ve recently graduated from HKU Conservatory, Jazz&Pop department, where I studied electric bass. In my years as a professional musician, I’ve toured around Europe and the UK multiple times and have composed, recorded and performed original music, playing bass with multiple artists. My teaching experience started before I moved to the Netherlands and was enhanced by the pedagogy/didactics courses I followed at the Conservatory. I also have experience in band coaching although I love the 1-on-1 dynamic in music lessons as it helps make the most out of it in a personalized way for the student.
I started teaching electric bass in 2016 and since then I developed an approach of focusing on what the student wants to learn. This means that my lessons can be about transcribing songs, theoretical knowledge, bassline composition or improvisation, depending on the student’s interest. At the same time I like to focus on my students’ creativity and help them create their own voice as bass players/artists. For lessons at my location, the student doesn’t need to bring an instrument, as they can use one of mine.
