Hi! My name is Minas, I’m a bass player, producer and music teacher from Greece. I offer electric bass/double bass lessons and music production lessons to all ages and levels, in Utrecht. Give a read to the information below. I'd love to offer you my services if I can!
In our lessons we will focus on your interests: different genres (rock, blues, funk, jazz, folk), different techniques such as slapping, playing chords, improvisation as well as theory, reading and other musical skills, according to your level and your goals.
Do you want to be a professional bass player? Let’s dive in all the different musical, entrepreneurial and social skills this takes!
Do you just want to be able to play songs you like or maybe join a band? In our lessons we’ll get to play a lot together as well, giving you experience in interaction with other musicians, other than the notes and scales.
Are you interested in writing your own songs? I’m really passionate about helping others (you!) explore their creative side, providing technical skills that could help, but also diving deeper into analysing and practicing composing/writing songs.
Are you thinking of trying the guitar or the piano? My studio is fully equipped with instruments you can try, and I can show you through the basics.
After ten years of teaching music, my main research is finding what works for each student personally. Every person gets into music for different reasons, and every person learns in different ways. Together we will shape a curriculum based on what suits you.
After years of composing original music, I decided to learn how to record and mix it myself. This has been an amazing and inspiring rabbit hole that shifted my career towards producing, along with performing and teaching. Here's how I can help you:
- If you make music and you want to learn how to record and produce it yourself. Let's start from the beginning and learn how to record, how to use microphones and software and how to work towards achieving the sound you have in your head.
- If you already know the basics about recording, we can dive deeper into what makes a recording great, how the arrangement influences the sound, how to mix and how to work with other artists in the studio. Making music, recording and producing it is a never-ending journey and I can maybe help you navigate it and help you create what you imagined.
As a bass player, most of my experience comes from playing blues and funk music. During my conservatory years I got to play a lot of jazz as well! Now I enjoy playing with singer/songwriters; I love serving the song, even if it means playing something simple!
I was born in Greece in 1994 and have been playing music since I was 5. I attended a music high school where I studied guitar, piano, double bass and theory/harmony. I’ve been working as a professional musician since I was 18. Over the years I’ve gained experience in performing live by touring in Greece, Europe and the UK multiple times. At the same time, I spent a lot of time in the studio, recording original music with different projects. Overall, I’ve worked as a bass player and/or producer in more than 30 albums, either for my own music or with other artists, like Kiki Deirdre, Kinsmit, Nufaro, Deep in the Top and more.
In 2018 I moved to Utrecht to study bass guitar and double bass in HKU Conservatory. Other than my focus on the instrument, I also received education on music theory, arranging, Alexander technique and pedagogy/didactics.
Since I moved here, I’ve continued my work as a bass player and producer but also turned a lot to teaching. It’s something that inspires me and gives me joy.
I have a studio on Oudegracht, in the centre of the city, where I rehearse, record and teach. Hopefully you’ll get to see it too!
