Nikolaos Kalavrytinos

Since childhood, I have always been drawn to music and rhythm. At the age of 16, encouraged by my friends and brother to form a band, it felt natural for me to start learning the bass guitar.

My early influences came from Rock, Pop, and Metal. Through playing in different bands, I quickly fell in love with a wide variety of styles, including Funk, Soul, and Electronic music. Later, through my first teacher, I was introduced to Jazz, which opened up a whole new world of musical possibilities for me. 

What I aim to share with my students above all is the enthusiasm and joy of making music. I want to help them develop their skills, discover their own musical voice, and, most importantly, enjoy the process of learning and playing their instrument.

I am a graduate of Codarts, Conservatorium of Rotterdam with a Bachelor degree in Jazz bass guitar. I have played bass guitar for numerous bands such as Funktion (Rock, Funk), Soulmates (Funk, Soul), Open Source Trio (ethnic-jazz), JUN (alternative-Pop), Gulls of Rot (Metal), Evangelos (improv,ambient).

When I started teaching at a younger age, beside the responsibility that I felt towards the student, I was not aware of how much of a learning experience was that for me. It took me several years to understand that through teaching you get to learn more about oneself. My method regarding teaching is that I teach people who love and want to learn music, and I am always going with the needs of every student individually on what they would like to accomplish. Aside from learning the bass guitar, it is optional If someone would like to learn music theory, ableton, ear training, rhythmical solfege, polyrhythmes, reading.
