About

My name is Milda and I am a professional jazz singer and a certified vocal teacher based in the Hague, the Netherlands. I have graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of the Hague, where I majored in Jazz Vocals as well as completed Minor studies in Education. Despite being an active musician and performing with my own projects as well as a part of different others in various venues, concerts, and festivals in the Netherlands and Lithuania, I have a broad teaching experience that I am willing to share with you.

I grew up in Lithuania, where I was classically trained for 11 years before coming to the Netherlands and choosing jazz, which, I believe, gives me the freedom to show and express my own musical identity. However, during my study years I have gained broad experience in other genres too, such as pop, soul, funk and alternative, which makes me very proficient to teach them as well.

During my teaching practice, I have gained various experiences that benefit me as a teacher and educator. I have completed a supervised one-year-long teaching internship to gain my teacher’s certificate as well as conducted active private teaching practice for more than 3 years, teaching students of various levels and ages. In addition to that, I have executed different educational activities and projects such as teaching music in children’s summer camp and organising educational projects for primary school children.

As a teacher, I want to help my students not only to gain valuable tools and skills to become great singers and performers but also to develop their own musicality and authenticity. In a friendly and inspiring environment during my lessons, I want to encourage my students to share their creative ideas and thoughts and to develop their unique personalities through music.

– Stage performance techniques and psychology (the connection between your body and your voice, posture, movement, fighting the stage fright);
– Vocal training for public speaking;
– Stylistic nuances of jazz, Latin, pop, and classical;
– Timing and phrasing in jazz, Latin, and pop;
– Interpretation of the song and emotional awareness;
– Jazz improvisation;

The pace, content and proportions of the lessons depend on a level and wishes of a student. We will work on different repertoire of your choice (and/or my recommendation) and explore different activities, tools and exercises targeted to your goals we will set out together.

For a trial lesson you should bring a song of your own choice you would like to work. We will pick it up from there.

COURSE 2: Private or Duo singing and music lessons for children

This course is similar to Course 1, though it is much more targeted to the younger students. During these lessons we will also cover topics of vocal technique, stage performance, rhythm, interpretation and more but it will be much more guided and directed through a form of a game. We will explore different musical exercises and games to strengthen child’s musical and rhythmic sense and creativity and sing various songs to train the voice, breathing and hearing. With varied activities and repertoire, children will learn many different ways in how to use their voice and have a lot of fun through music making. In addition to that, we will get acquainted to the piano and a few other instruments (percussion, kalimba, ukulele) and also learn the basics of the music theory.
