Hi, I’m Jakob – a pianist with over 16 years of training and performance experience. I started playing at age 5, studied 8 years of classical piano, then 8 years of jazz, and just graduated from Codarts (Jazz Piano, Bachelor) with the highest grade (10). I’m now continuing my journey at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague.

Music and piano is my passion, and I want to share it with you! Whether you’re a complete beginner or an advanced player, I’ll guide you step by step. My teaching adapts to your goals – from learning your favorite songs to mastering technique, improvisation, arranging, composing or even working with Ableton and synthesizers. If you want to just talk about music generally and look for new inspirations, I am very much willing to talk about the "spiritual" side of music.

I’ve played in bands of every style – indie rock, jazz, classical, pop, RnB, funk, rock, Latin, hip-hop, electronic, and more – so I know what it takes to sound good in any setting. I also lead my own projects (solo, duo, trio, and big band), which helps me bring real stage experience into our lessons. We will learn music from artists that YOU like!

 I have taught for the past 4 years and I know that ANYONE can learn and achieve any kind of goal through consistent practice with clear guidance and a strong motivation, which comes not only from the student, but from the teacher himself.

As a pianist, I have played in many different projects (pop, latin, jazz, rock, RnB, techno, classical), I also lead my own project and graduated with a 10 in my bachelor recital this year (where I played my original music) - what I have learned, is that there are many different approaches when it comes to playing piano - I tailor the lessons to the student to find the best possible way of studying that is motivating for both of us - it does NOT matter which level you are, from complete beginner to an advanced player, there is always space to learn and create - we can learn jazz, classical, pop, RnB, funk, metal, rock - I will help you to get to a level at which you can play in any genre that you feel fits YOU! I am very open minded when it comes to different styles - do you want to be able to improvise on the spot and play a really good solo? Do you feel more like composing and presenting your own project - do you want to be a bandleader? Do you want to accompany yourself or someone else while singing or playing? Do you want to achieve a technical proficiency, to be able to control the sound you get from a piano on a deep level? Do you want to hear a song and immediately be able to play it? Do you want to arrange already existing songs and possibly re-arrange them into another genre?
