Leuk dat je op zoek bent naar gitaarles! Ik ben Sander Visser: muzikant, producer en docent uit Utrecht. 14 jaar geleden kocht ik mijn allereerste gitaar en sindsdien ben ik verliefd op alles wat met muziek te maken heeft. Het lijkt me leuk je verder te helpen in het avontuur dat gitaarspelen heet.
Vanaf het begin besteedde ik al gelijk al mijn vrije tijd in het leren van nummers van de Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jimi Hendrix en kwam ik al snel in bandjes terecht. Of het nou popsongs van The Script waren, folkmetal van Metsatöll, klassiekers van Pink Floyd of nieuwe klassiekers van John Mayer in de jaren die volgden heb ik ontzettend veel genres aangepakt vanuit de bandjes waar ik in heb gespeeld.
Mijn inspiraties lopen dan ook vrij uiteen, van Tom Morello tot Tom Misch, van Sticky Fingers de band, tot Sticky Fingers het album: ik ben een muzikaal allesvreter en deel met de grootste passie mijn kennis met andere mensen.
Momenteel ben ik aangesloten als muzikant, artiest en producer bij de Wisseloord Academy. Wisseloord Studios is bekend geworden door de talloze grootheden die er hebben opgenomen, zoals U2, Elton John, The Police, 50 Cent en The Rolling Stones en wordt momenteel nog dagelijks gebruikt door de grootste artiesten.
Voor iedereen is gitaarles anders. De een wil zichzelf kunnen begeleiden op een akoestische gitaar, terwijl de ander weer in een bandje wilt spelen. Daarom stem ik de lessen graag af op jouw als leerling. Samen gaan we op avontuur zodat we het meeste plezier uit het leren van het instrument kunnen halen. Alles op eigen tempo en alles bespreekbaar.
Onderdelen die we kunnen behandelen zijn:
Wil je je eerste beat leren bouwen, of demo’s opnemen voor je band? Ik kan je de basics van muziekproductie bijbrengen zodat je een juiste richting op wordt gestuurd. De een gebruikt de DAW (Digital Audio Workstation = term voor muziekproductieprogramma) als een soort wordbestand of kladblok voor demo’s van nummers, terwijl de andere het gebruikt voor de productie van beats of hele tracks.
Ik leer je basis opnametechnieken, geluidsbewerking, effecten, termen en nog veel meer om jou op weg te helpen.
Heb je het gevoel dat je nog niet echt ‘snapt’ wat akkoorden, of toonladders zijn, of wil je graag makkelijker muziek leren uitzoeken?
Een basis in muziektheorie helpt je soms om beter te ‘begrijpen’ wat er gebeurt in de muziek. Sommige mensen denken wel eens dat theorie kennen niet nodig is omdat ‘de groten dat ook niet hadden’, maar ik zie theorie meer als een manier om te begrijpen wat er muzikaal gebeurt, in plaats van ‘de regels van muziek’.
Ik leer mensen muziektheorie vanuit het perspectief van de gitaar en/of van de piano.
Ik geef les in Ondiep. De locaties zijn goed bereikbaar met OV en gratis parkeren mogelijk.
Voor de proefles en eerste les kan je bij mij altijd wel een gitaar lenen. Het is alleen wel nodig om een gitaar thuis te hebben om te oefenen. Als je niet zo goed weet wat je moet hebben om te beginnen, dan ben ik er uiteraard voor je om je daarbij te helpen!
Nee, dat hoeft niet per se. Er zijn veel verschillende manieren om muziek te leren en noten lezen is er daar een van. Echter, voor niet-klassieke gitaar gebruiken we meestal andere notaties die veel makkelijker te leren zijn.

Amazing to see that you’re looking for guitar lessons! My name is Sander Visser and I’m a musician, producer and music teacher from Utrecht. 14 years ago I bought my first guitar and I’ve been in love with everything music ever since. I’d love to guide you with your guitar journey!
Ever since the beginning, I starte to spend all my free time in learning songs from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jimi Hendrix and ended up very quickly in bands. Whether it were popsongs by Maroon 5, folk metal by Metsatöll, the classics by Pink Floyd, or new classics by John Mayer, in the years that followed I have learned a variety of genres by playing in different bands.
I’m inspired by very different artists, from Tom Morello to Tom Misch, from Sticky Fingers the band, to Sticky Fingers the album: I am a musical omnivore and love to share my knowledge to others with all my passion.
Currently I’m connected to the Wisseloord Academy as a musician, artist and producer. The Wisseloord Studios are famous thanks to the hundreds of legends that recorded there, like U2, Elton John, The Police, 50 Cent, and The Rolling Stones and is currently still used daily by the biggest names in the industry.
For the proefles/trial, you can always borrow a guitar of mine. However, to learn guitar at home you do need a guitar to practice. If you have no idea what to look for to get started, I’m of course happy to help you out!
No, not necessarily. There are loads of different ways to learn music, and learning music notation is one of the ways. However, when learning non-classical guitar, we usually use different notations which are way easier to learn.
I teach from my music studio in Overvecht (or incidentally from my home in Ondiep). Very accessible with public transport and free parking available.
Learning guitar is different for everyone. While one person wants to be able to accompany themselves on an acoustic guitar, the other wants to rock out in a band. That is why I like to tailor the lessons to you as a student. Together, we’ll start a journey to get the most fun out of learning the instrument. Everything at your own pace and everything can be discussed.

Do you feel like you don’t really ‘get’ what chords or scales are would you like to be able to figure out songs quicker?
A foundation in music theory can help you better ‘understand’ what is happening in music. Some people think that learning theory isn’t necessary, because (they think) it restricts creativity and the ‘great one’s’ never knew any theory either. I see learning theory as a way to ‘understand’ what’s happening in music rather than ‘the musical rules to which to abide by’.
I teach theory from a guitar and/or piano perspective.
Do you want to learn how to build your own first beat, or record demo’s for your band? I can teach you the basics of music production. While one person uses their DAW (= Digital Audio Workstation = music production software) as sort of a words doc of notepad for demos of songs, the other might use it to produce beats or entire tracks.
I can teach you the basics of recording techniques, audio engineering, effects, glossary and whatever is needed to get you going.
