I started to play pretty late, only when I was 15, and in a few years I started to play professionally, which means that no matter when you grab the instrument for the first time, there’s always a chance to explore music and make your own path through this beautiful art.
Music requires quite some effort, especially at the beginning, but it repays you with fulfillment at every step, at any level, and when you understand that, you’re half the way down!
I was born in Naples, (IT). I’m a guitarist, composer, and teacher, graduated from the Conservatory of Naples with the highest honors, received my Master’s Degree in Jazz Guitar from the Conservatorium Van Amsterdam. Besides the academies, during brief periods of stay in the USA, I had a chance to study with some of the best artists based in Los Angeles and New York.
How did I make myself through all of this? The answer is only one: I took my time to face every step of the way, one step at the time!
Not all the people are the same; we all have different paths, different ways to approach things, which means that we need to take care of ourselves while we are studying some subjects. I learned that every student is different, which is the reason why I personalize lessons based on each student, in order to guarantee fun and motivating learning experience.
Depending on the level of the student, a lesson with me usually lasts 60 minutes (if your child is very young, a lesson might last 30 minutes). Time on lesson is split between technique, theory and playing songs (in the case of a little child I will use a more playful approach, adding games and easy songs). On the first lesson I usually ask what kind of music the student listens to and/or wants to further explore and this process will involve some repertoire, which eventually means some of your favorite songs or your own compositions.
Furthermore, I will guide the student through different topics:
- Guitar Technique
- Improvisation (for advanced students that want to expand their knowledge and methods on Jazz, Blues, Funk)
What do you have to prepare for your first lesson? Bring your own instrument and desire to have a good time!
I’m available to teach at my home-studio in the center of Amsterdam, 5 minutes walking from Centraal Station. If you prefer to have lesson at your house, I can come to you for a small extra fee!
